Chanukah, the Festival of Lights. A remembrance to us of the re dedication of the Temple. A reminder to us to not assimilate to the world's standards or way of thinking, to be set apart unto Him.
Dreidels..on them are four Hebrew letters, shin, heh, gimmel and nun which stand for Hebrew words, when translated means a great miracle happened there. When the Temple was rededicated, they found only enough oil to light the menorah for one night, and miraculously, it stayed lit for eight nights, which is why Chanukah is celebrated for eight nights.
We are commanded to be a light unto the world. To dispel the darkness by being different, set apart, so that others will see the light of Messiah within us.
He is the light of the world. A light unto our path.
